Crewe Alexandra 1 Gillingham 3

GILLINGHAM find themselves in the driving seat at half-time at Gresty Road as they lead Crewe 3-1.

The Gills deservedly took the lead on 21 minutes when the recalled Alan Pouton's delected left-foot drive from 25-yards flew past Crewe keeper Ben Williams and high into the net.

And it got even better for the visitors seven minutes later when skipper Mike Flynn produced an excellent shot from the edge of the box after Dean McDonald had headed into his path.

But the home side got back into the match 10 minutes before the break when Ryan Lowe played in Nicky Maynard who coolly beat Scott Flinders.

However, Gillingham restored their two-goal lead in stoppage time when McDonald produced a fine turn and finish.

Gillingham: Flinders, Jupp, Cox, Johnson, Bentley, Pouton, Flynn, Easton, Jarvis, Ndumbu-Nsungu, McDonald.
Subs: Clohessy, Jackman, Spiller, Savage, Collin.
