Gills handed tough Priestfield opener

GILLINGHAM open their League 1 campaign with a home match against Huddersfield Town on August 5.

The Gills travel to Brighton three days later in what is a tough opening month for the club, who also face Bradford, Northampton and Blackpool.

An early visit to Millwall awaits the Gills for a first round Carling Cup tie on the week commencing August 21.

The Christmas period sees Gillingham face newly promoted side Leyton Orient at home on Boxing Day and another visit to The New Den on New Year’s Day.

The season concludes on May 5 with a home clash - something Gillingham haven’t experienced on the final day since the 2002/03 season - against Yeovil.
