Mark Stimson could bring big defender Leo Roget out of the wilderness and hand him another chance of league football.

The 30-year-old has played little football over the last two years but Stimson is prepared to give the defender a chance.

Roget has been training with the team this week and will continue working with fitness coach Danny Ellis while the rest of the squad train in Spain.

Stimson said: “His legs went well in the practice game we had on Saturday he was up against Gary Mulligan and Simeon Jackson and he did well.

“He looks fit and could get involved in the pre-season matches.”

Roget virtually gave up the game after leaving Oxford in 2006 with just a handful of games with Conference South side St Albans.

Gillingham’s other trialists Drewe Broughton and Moses Swaibu have left the club.

“Drewe understands the situation and he’s gone and Moses has gone on trial with another club,” said Stimson.

Also recently training with the club has been former youth player Louis Bell who wasn’t offered a contract at the end of last season after suffering from injury.
