Defender John Nutter is hoping to make his return to the Gillingham side in time for Saturday's trip to Bristol Rovers.

The 25-year-old full-back has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury but looks set to return to the squad for Saturday's crucial game.

"I should be in contention this weekend," he said. "I've been doing the normal stuff like massages and strengthening work to get fit and hopefully it should be better now.

"If I'm selected I'll be delighted to get back into the side and I'll do my best if I play and give everything. It's been awfully hard watching the boys and I've wanted to be out there."
