GILLINGHAM boss Ronnie Jepson is keeping a tight lid on expectations ahead of the forthcoming season, in the face of growing optimism around the club.

The Gills have significantly bolstered their squad over the summer, with former Northern Ireland midfielder Steve Lomas and goalkeeper Simon Royce the latest confirmed additions at Priestfield.

However, Jepson insists he is not getting carried away.

He said: "I don't want to make any silly statements, never have done. If you do well, that's great and if you don't, you face the consequences."
