GILLINGHAM'S youngsters produced the shock of the FA Youth Cup, third round proper, on Tuesday night when they knocked out mighty Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool, who included six youth internationals, won the cup in 1996 and were semi-finalists in 2001.

Only Akwasi Edusei and Matthew Jarvis of the Gillingham side have first team experience.

It was Edusei who broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when he headed home the only goal of the game.

The draw for the next round will be just before Christmas. The closing date for fourth round ties is Saturday, January 31.
