Gillingham were left to rue a succession of missed chances as they crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Wimbledon.

The Gills never took control of the match against Divison 1's bottom club and fell behind in the 22nd minute when Adam Nowland fired home after Jason Brown could only parry Wade Small's shot.

Nayron Nosworthy got the home team back on level terms just before the break when he headed in a John Hills cross.

But Gillingham were denied the lead in the second half when two goalbound efforts were deflected wide.

And Wimbledon took full advantage of their good fortune when Patrick Agyemang shot home with 24 minutes to go.

Rod Wallace had two great chances to equalise late on but failed to find the back of the net.
