Gate shatter Shots' home record

CHRIS KINNEAR: happy with his team's workmanlike display

Aldershot 0 Margate 2

MARGATE ended Aldershot’s unbeaten home record in the Nationwide Conference with goals either side of the break on Saturday.

Lenny Piper struck on the stroke of half time and Jake Leberl hit the second two minutes after the break to condemn the Shots to their first defeat at the Recreation Ground since October last year.

The result was even more surprising considering the Gate had not won in their past 10 league or cup matches and were without suspended striker Che Stadhart.

But Margate boss Chris Kinnear felt his sidehad produced a workmanlike performance. He stressed: “We’ve worked very hard and more than deserved the win."

Substitute Jean Michel Sigere could have made it three, but he was unable to make the most of a one-on-one situation with keeper Nikki Bull.
