Gate go down by a single goal

Chelmsford City 1 Margate 0

MARGATE travelled back to Hartsdown Park with nothing on Friday night after a 1-0 defeat at Chelmsford City.

The only goal of the game came midway through the first half when the home side broke away following a Margate corner and Jamie Richards' poorly struck effort from 25 yards somehow found its way under the body of Charlie Mitten.

Gate had enough chances to take at least a point from the game, but failed to take their opportunities.

Bertie Brayley twice failed to convert when he had only the goalkeeper to beat and Danny Hockton was unlucky with a header.

The visitors also felt they were denied a penalty when Hockton appeared to be pushed by the defender when climbing for a header.
