BARRY BUNDOCK: died after a short illness

THE funeral of Barry Bundock, one of Kent's best known soccer administrators, will take place on Thursday, June 3, at the Garden of England Crematorium at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, at 11am.

Mr Bundock died in intensive care at Medway Hospital after a short illness. He was 63.

Mr Bundock was general secretary of the British Energy Kent County League and a stalwart of Sheppey United during their Kent League days.

In that time he served the club as secretary and commercial director. He retained his link with the club through his involvement with the youth set-up

Mr Bundock lived at Minster on Sheppey. Matt Grant, Sheppey United's first team coach, said: "I only knew Barry for two years and came to realise that he was totally into his football.

"His death is a sad loss, not just for our club but Kent football as a whole because he was so high up in the chain of command."

Kent County FA chief executive Keith Masters said: "I was deeply saddened to learn about Barry's death. I had known him for 26 years and was a good friend and a thoroughly nice bloke. It will be impossible to fill the void he has left."

Mr Bundock leaves a widow, Lynne, and son Glenn.

* Donations to Hogbens and Sons, funeral directors, 26-28, Hope Street, Sheerness, Kent, ME 12, 1QH. Cheques to be made payable to Medway NHS Trust (ICU).
