GILLINGHAM travel to Millwall tonight with several fringe players ready to make a claim for a starting place.
Jepson may be ready to give the likes of striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu a starting role as the team take a breather from league duties for the first round Carling Cup tie.
The manager will closely assess his squad as he looks for answers to the club’s current poor league form.
Ndumbu-Nsungu is yet to start a game since joining in the summer while fellow newcomer Clint Easton is also yet to figure.
Millwall completed their first win of the season on Saturday, beating Oldham 1-0, but will be without former Gills striker Darren Byfield who is sidelined through an ankle injury.
Looking ahead to the game, Jepson said: "Nobody will give us a chance there. They have spent a lot of money, got some good players and have a big squad.
"We’ll go there and give it everything we’ve got and hopefully the lads will start off better than they did on Saturday."
Gillingham’s only injury concern is keeper Kelvin Jack, who missed Saturday’s match with a knee injury, which he picked up the previous week at Bradford.
Last season Gillingham were eliminated at the third round stage by Doncaster.
