Fresh chapter for Valley Express

CHARLTON’S cut-price Valley Express coach service to home games will write the most successful chapter yet in its brief history at the weekend by transporting a record 4,000 fans from Kent to Saturday’s final home game of the season against Blackburn.

The number easily beats the previous best 2,700 for Aston Villa’s visit on February 25.

Organisers have arranged for between 75 to 80 coaches to transport supporters from all corners of Kent to The Valley.

Valley Express co-ordinator Rick Everitt said: "The success of Valley Express has exceeded all expectations with so many schools, junior football clubs and youth groups jumping aboard and helping to increase our fan base.

"A good many have used it to watch Premier League football for the first time and our records show that they have returned again and again. We shall certainly run the service again next season."
