Former champions meet in Sunshine Challenge

Two former champions have been drawn against each other in the last 16 of this year's Kent Messenger Group Sunshine Challenge.

Steve Lovell (h5, Sittingbourne), who won the title in 2005 and 2006, will play away to six-handicapper Gary Tottman (Canterbury) who was successful in 2004.

Lovell, who also won the national title in 2006 while representing the Kent Messenger Group, booked his place in the last 16 by beating Andrew Killip (h12, Walmer & Kingsdown) 4&3.

Tottman kept his hopes alive by beating Tony Sampson (h9, Redlibetts) 5&4.

The winner of this year's competition will represent the Kent Messenger Group in Portugal in November when he will take on 12 other regional newspapers' winners.
