Ford: Yasir was a great team man

WE'VE waved farewell to out third overseas player this summer and wished Yasir Arafat all the best for the Twenty20 World Championships.

Obviously we're disappointed to lose him at such a critical point of the season but he's such a good guy that you can't help but hope all goes well for him when the action starts out in South Africa.

With so much rain around the reverse swing we hoped he would bring to us hasn't proved a factor at all and there's no doubt that the weather, coupled with the injury and then the international call up, forced him to throttle back in terms of pace and make sure he looked after himself.

He didn't contribute as much with the ball in championship cricket as he would have liked, but his one-day performances were very good when you consider he bowls at the most difficult times; up front and then at the death.

He was a big factor in our one-day success and a fantastic team man. He was totally committed to the cause and loved every bit of success that the other players achieved.
