Welling's manager Andy Ford has already spoken to 12 potential new signings as he starts his summer rebuilding job at Park View Road.

Ford is waiting to finalise his playing budget for next season by the end of the week but is already making plans for new signings.

He may not be able to land all his potential targets but is keen to build his squad as quickly as possible.

Ford said: “I’m talking to players at the moment but I can’t really offer them anything until I know how much I’ve got to play with.

“I know the club are holding a couple of meetings this week and they agree that we need to find some more money in the budget.”

Ford has offered fresh terms to defender Tony Sinclair and Orlando Smith, who are both under 24. But as their contracts run out this summer, the Wings would be entitled to a fee should they decide to leave.

Striker Ellis Remy is the only player to be released to date as Ford has offered other members of his squad the chance to return for pre-season training.

“They’ve all said that they want to prove themselves,” added Ford. “I’m not going to be in a position to hand out contracts, some might take it and some might not.”
