Welling v Newport

WELLING manager Andy Ford has backed keeper Jamie Turner to overcome his bad run of form ahead of Wednesday night's Blue Square South clash at home to Newport.

Turner has been beaten twice in successive weeks by crosses – including directly from a corner at Eastleigh last Saturday – but Ford is standing by his man.

The Wings boss said: "I feel sorry for Jamie Turner. He hasn’t had any coaching lately as we train on a five-a-side pitch and that’s an area that I am trying to put right for him.

"But he is big enough to come through this and it’s down to him to do that. I’ve still got confidence in Jamie."

Turner previously played under Ford when the pair were at Gravesend & Northfleet.

Ford has extended the loan deals of Brighton duo Sam Gargan and Sonny Cobbs this week and is still keen to bring in additional fire power.

Youth-team keeper Adam Highsted will be on the bench after Ford released previous back-up keeper Marc Powell.
