Weston-super-Mare 0 Welling 3

WELLING recorded a superb victory at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday to earn their first win in 12 matches.

An own goal by Craig Loxton in the 22nd minute set the Wings on their way at the Woodspring Stadium after Ohran Stewart's shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Striker Sam Gargan doubled the lead nine minutes before the break after Robbie Ryan's through ball sent him clear.

Ryan, who was making his return after a hamstring injury, continued to impress after the break and saw his shot come back off the post.

Stewart was one of three debutants in the Welling line-up with Max Hustwick and Amos Foyewa both shining while Ronayne Benjamin made his first start after rejoining the Wings last month.

Weston improved in the second half but Welling kept them at bay as they kept their first clean sheet since the first week of December.

Substitute Orlando Smith completed a 3-0 win in the 83rd minute when he fired home from 20 yards to drag Welling four points clear of the Blue Square South relegation places.

The result offers some respite for new boss Andy Ford after the Wings were hammered 6-2 at home by Cambridge City in his first game in charge.
