FORMER Gravesend manager Andy Ford has revealed that he is interested in the vacant position at Welling.

The Wings are still without a manager after Neil Smith was sacked two weeks ago following the 4-0 hammering at Hampton & Richmond in Blue Square South.

Former Woking boss Glenn Cockerill has expressed an interest in the vacancy but Ford admitted that he would also welcome any approach by Welling.

Ford said: "I’m happy to go up there and have a chat with them but I’m not applying for the job - that’s not my style.

"When the timing and opportunity is right then that will be the time to get back in.

"I think I’d be a better manager now than I was before, it’s like everything in life, you hope that you won’t make the same mistakes again.

"Welling is a good club which is run steadily. There isn’t a mass amount of money there but which club has got that nowadays?"
