Kent v Nottinghamshire

KENT start their pre-season friendly campaign in Canterbury today without their most experienced batsman Matthew Walker, who looks set to miss at least a week with a foot injury.

The 33-year-old left-hander has inflammation to the joint between the metatarsal and second biggest toe of his left foot and is rested as a result.

Physiotherapist Nimmo Reid said: "It's what we call a hot spot and it really is just a case of resting for a week as a precaution and then he should be fine."

The three-day fixture against Nottinghamshire will be played as a two-day game on Thursday and Friday, followed by a limited overs match on Saturday.

Admission for each of the three days at Canterbury is free.

Kent will then wrap up their warm-up games with two one-day matches at Beckenham against Surrey on April 10 and April 11 and a limited overs clash with Northamptonshire at their Wantage Road ground on April 12.

The county championship campaign then gets underway with a trip to champions Sussex, starting on Wednesday, April 18.
