Ebbsfleet could announce the preferred site for their new ground later this year if negotiations with the owner continue to prove positive.

MyFC board representative Jessica McQueen has revealed the move in her latest report to members and says the club have now chosen from a shortlist of three and are going ahead with a feasibility study.

It follows a series of meetings with Gravesham Borough Council officials, Kent County Council, landowners and property agents to determine if “suitable and sustainable” sites were available.

The latest move comes after progress on their original choice stalled last year but things now seem more positive.

Mrs McQueen said: “Thorough background work has been carried out and positive discussions held with the landowner. A masterplan showing how the stadium would fit the site has been prepared.

“We are currently in detailed liaison with Gravesham Council and Kent County Council regarding this location and their support will be vital. There are certain considerations that make it attractive which we hope to enlarge upon as soon as possible.

“It is ideally located for a stadium and the necessary infrastructure and we are working on a strategy to cover any planning issues and deliver a viable development. This also allows other work to be done at Stonebridge Road.

“We hope to be able to announce the site in the coming months if planned negotiations progress as hoped.

“We are keen on this location and will continue to push hard to try and find the club a home that will enable it to progress further.

“It will also enthuse and be a focal point for the people of the borough and will be a major part of the Kent Thameside regeneration process. We will as always remain alert to other opportunities and partnerships.”

Gravesham MP Adam Holloway is being kept up to date with developments, having already confirmed his support for the project.
