Welling enjoyed a comfortable win at Blue Square South strugglers Fisher on Monday.

Facing a side that had lost 21 of their last 23 league games, nothing less than three points was expected from Welling.

But they still put in a professional performance and had the luxury of missing a first-half penalty.

A bright start was rewarded in the ninth minute when Loui Fazackerley's left-wing corner was met by Tony Sinclair before falling for Graeme Andrews to slam home from close range.

The Wings doubled their lead within 60 seconds when Sanchez Ming's cross was headed in by the on-rushing Ryan Johnson.

Welling keeper Charlie Mitten then produced a fine one-handed save at the other end, but the visitors continued to create chances.

Jack Parkinson's 25-yard free-kick was touched onto the post by keeper Stuart Robinson before Charlie Sheringham's close-range effort was hacked off the line after neat work by Sam Hurrell.

Sheringham could have bagged a first-half hat-trick. Instead he had nothing to show for his efforts, after he dragged a 39th-minute spot-kick wide and then somehow blazed over from two yards after Ming's cross.

Welling added a third two minutes into the second half when Lee Protheroe cut back on his left foot and delivered a cross that evaded the giant frame of Robinson and found the top corner.

Hurrell scored the goal of the game just after the hour mark, running from his own half and ignoring an easier pass before drilling a 25-yard left-foot shot into the far corner.

Sheringham finally made it 17 league goals for the season with 15 minutes left. Ming won his second penalty of the day, and Sheringham drilled home to make it 5-0.

The only sour note for the Wings was a hamstring injury to keeper Mitten, although he is cup-tied for Thursday's Kent Senior Cup final at Park View Road against Whitstable.
