Gillingham are back in training ahead of the new season and the door remains open for supporters, insists boss Martin Allen.

Allen ensured that the training ground was open to the public throughout last season and that’s the way it will remain.

“That will never change,” said Allen. “Mr Scally owns the football club. It’s his club and his business and job to make sure it all runs properly but it’s the supporters’ football club.

“I have met generations at the training ground, the granddads, dads and mums, children and grandchildren and they have been coming to this football club long before Mr Scally and no doubt will do long after Mr Scally.

“The chairman likes it that we have involved our supporters because it is their club. He owns it but it is their club.

“The training ground will remain open all the way through, every day of the week.

“We will try and have good communication and improve our communication, with regards to when we are going to be training and not training so that everyone is clear. They can visit and all the players will be accessible to our supporters."
