Fan running marathon for Gate

A MARGATE supporter is running the London marathon to help raise funds for the stricken club.

John Copper has been hocked on the Gate since he saw his first match in 1965 and decided that this year - the twelfth time he has run the 26-mile race - he would do it to help his beloved team.

A club spokesperson said John approached the club to ask for permission to run in the Margate strip and the managers were only too happy for him to help out the fundraising effort.

All the money he raises will go to the Support Our Stadium fighting fund.

John is now looking for sponsors and said everyone who donates will be given a raffle ticket for every pound they donate and will be entered into a prize draw being held at the last home match of the season on Saturday, April 24.
