FA Cup preview

DOVER Athletic are competing in the preliminary round of the FA Cup for the first time since the mid-1980s on Saturday.

Whites travel to fellow Ryman League Division 1 side Lymington & New Milton with manager Clive Walker hoping to be able to select from a fully fit squad.

The only doubt is over Walid Matata, who faces a late fitness test.

Walker said: "Lymington & New Milton are a decent side and will give us a hard game.

"Our players need to adjust to the standard they’re playing at. Teams in this league don’t roll over and will keep running and running."

The winners of the tie will play away at either Bashley or Hythe Town in the first qualifying round on September 12.

Should it be a draw, Dover's league match against Ashford Town on Bank Holiday Monday will be postponed as the replay is scheduled for Tuesday (7.45pm kick off).

In other ties, Cray Wanderers travel to Steyton Town, Tonbridge Angels entertain Horsham and Ramsgate make the trip to Mertsham.

Meanwhile, Ashford Town are at home against Slade Green in Ryman League Division 1.
