THANET squash player Rebecca Czuczman has been called-up to represent England for a second time at an over-50s home nations international in Belfast this month.

Czuczman, 53, of Cliftonville, was chosen by selectors after winning the British over-50s title at Manchester in March. She said: “It’s a great honour to represent England and is something that no-one can take away from me.”

Czuczman, a member of Thanet Squash Club and Kent Veterans captain, will be up against some of the players she faced in Manchester and is setting her sights high. “I’ll be aiming to win all the matches that I play in,” she said.

Czuczman, who this season skippered Thanet’s over-50s team to their 14th consecutive South-East Division 1 title, performed beyond her own expectations in the British championships.

She had to overcome the number two seed before beating number one seed Faith Sinclair in the final. This will be the second time Czuczman, an employee at Innpak, in North Lane, Canterbury, has played for England. Her previous appearance was against Wales last year.
