England role for Hales

ERITH & Belvedere manager Kevin Hales has been appointed England’s assistant manager for the Four Nations semi-professional international tournament in Scotland next week.

The Deres boss will be number two to Paul Fairclough, who he worked with at Stevenage for two years.

He said: “It came out of the blue and I am absolutely delighted to be involved.

“I have worked with Paul in the past. We have kept in touch since and he knows what I can do.

“I am really looking forward to it because it is the top of the tree as far as non-league football is concerned.”

Hales has a great deal of experience at Conference level, having managed Welling and been assistant manager at Margate in addition to his time at Stevenage.
