Dynamos swoop to sign brothers

Invicta Dynamos have already embarked on preparations for next season after clinching the signatures of two brothers - a defender and a forward.

Italian-American siblings Anthony and John Sarno put pen-to-paper at the club over the weekend as head coach Kevin Parrish looks to improve on a slightly disappointing campaign.

"I’m really excited about the signing of the Sarno brothers and I’m confident that they will a great addition to the team," said Parrish.

"John and Anthony have put up some good numbers and we’re looking forward to getting them involved with the squad."

John is a six-foot, 196lb forward who joins the Dynamos from the second and third tier of the French League. The 25-year-old scored 80 points last season for Cherbourg HC.

Anthony is younger at 22, and he joins from HYC Herentals of Belgium, after notching 26 goals and 29 assists from the blue line last season.

"I am excited about joining the Invicta Dynamos and being on the same team as my brother Anthony," said John.

"I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Dynamos organisation and I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans at the Ice Bowl.

"I know Invicta had a disappointing time last season, but we’re coming here with the aim of helping the Dynamos to the ENL championship."

Anthony said: "I nearly signed for Chelmsford last January so I’ve been looking for a move to the UK for a while now.

"When my agent contacted myself and John about Invicta we jumped at the chance of coming to play. We feel our game is suited to the hockey in the UK.

"John has played a number of seasons in France and I have played in Belgium also, so we’re no strangers to hockey in Europe.

"I am looking forward to playing for Invicta and hopefully winning a championship."
