Dynamos slay Dragons

Invicta Dynamos battled to a 7-4 victory over Cardiff Dragons in their play-off quarter-final second leg.

Having led 4-1 from the first leg, Dynamos were made to work hard for their victory in a feisty game at the Gillingham Ice Bowl.

Martin Melichercik gave the home side the lead as Dynamos capitalised on a 5-on-3 situation. Anthony Leone fired the puck under the netminder before, seconds later, Melichercik made it 3-0.

Steve Fisher pulled one back for the Dragons before the end of the first period, before Tim Burrows struck twice in the second period to make it 3-3. Brent Pope then scored to put the visitors ahead.

The Dynamos came out all guns blazing for the final period and scored twice in the opening 30 seconds through Andy Smith and Elliot Andrews.

Andy Smith struck again to make it 6-4, before Lew Burke scored a fine solo goal to wrap up the scoring.
