Dynamos hand captaincy to utility man

HONOUR: Grant Baxter
HONOUR: Grant Baxter

GRANT BAXTER has been named Invicta Dynamos skipper for next season.

The Dynamos utility man has been rewarded for both his improvement as a player in recent seasons and for his commitment to the club, where he has been a junior coach for four years.

He replaces Kev Lake, who had held the role since 2003 when the Dynamos dropped out of the English Premier League (EPL).

Coach Kevin Parrish said: "This is no slur on Kev's character. He's done a tremendous job, and picked up eight trophies as captain, but it was time for a change."

Baxter said: "I was surprised, but it's an honour. It's going to be an interesting season, and we're hoping to improve on what we did last year."
