CHARLTON'S Premier League survival hopes were dealt a devastating blow as fellow strugglers Sheffield United came from behind to snatch a precious point before a capacity crowd at The Valley.

Talal El Karkouri's third league goal of the season secured a 59th minute lead for the Addicks when he beat United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny from all of 30-yards with a shot that deflected off defender Matthew Kilgallon.

United drew level in the 70th minute when a mistake by Ben Thatcher presented Jon Stead with the chance to beat goalkeeper Scott Carson with a feocious drive.

The goal stunned the Addicks, who were left hanging on for a point at the final whistle.
