Double signing for Wings

WELLING have completed the loan signings of two youngsters from League 1 outfit Brighton.

The Wings have signed forward Sam Gargan and defender Sonny Cobbs, with both going straight into the squad for Saturday's Blue Square South home clash against leaders Lewes.

Joint caretaker-manager Richard Carpenter was instrumental in the deals, being a former Seagulls player himself.

He said: "I'm sure that both players will be breaking into the Brighton first team shortly so they are fantastic signings for the club.

"They both bring strong physical qualities to the team."

Gargan has already played against the Wings this season, coming on as a second-half substitute while on loan at Bognor in November. He has also netted 13 goals in 19 starts for Ryman League Worthing.

Cobbs is a strong defender who has enjoyed loan spells at Worthing and Dorchester already this season.
