James DeGale aims to send out a message of intent when he faces American Dyah Davis at Bluewater next month.

The WBC Silver champion will be fighting at Bluewater’s Glow venue for the third and the 2008 Olympic gold medailist wants people to take notice.

He said: “It’s time now for me to make a statement because it’s not about treading water, trust me, I do want the big fights and I want the big names.

“I know the first step to that is doing a good job on Davis.

“I’m going to be going in there switched on and full of confidence and to try and get that stoppage win.”

DeGale is chasing a world title fight but needs to keep winning. He has bounced back from a high-profile defeat to George Groves with six straight wins, which included victories over Hadillah Mohoumadi and Stjepan Bozic at Glow.

Next stop for DeGale is a meeting with the man nicknamed ‘Dangerous‘ Davis in the super-middleweight contest.

The former NABF champion shared the ring with the WBC world super middleweight champion Sakio Bika and boasts 22 wins.

“I'm not overlooking him, if anything I'm more focussed on him because I know where a good performance here can lead me,” DeGale said.
