Charlie Daniels says the final decision on his future will be in the hands of others

Charlie Daniels' wonder goal in Gillingham's 3-0 win over Grimsby on Saturday capped an impressive performance and he insists he wants to stay at Priestfield.

The talented midfielder is on a one-month loan from Tottenham but admits that the final decision on his future will be in the hands of others.

“There are three or four more games to play and I don’t know if talks are going on between Gillingham and Tottenham,” he said.

“I don’t know how it goes but I’m just enjoying my football at the minute and hopefully I’ll score a few more.

“It’s up to Spurs if they want to decide to keep me here or not. I would like to stay here.”

Gillingham have won both games Daniels has played in and the free-kick he scored against Grimsby highlighted his class.

“I scored a couple last season (for Leyton Orient) but not as good as that,” he said.

“That’s got to be top out of the three goals I’ve scored.

“The way we’re going at the minute, we’re flying high. Two wins out of two (since I’ve been here) isn’t bad and no goals conceded as well is a bonus.”
