Goalkeeper Lance Cronin believes Ebbsfleet's defence will have a key role to play in Saturday's FA Cup first round clash against Crewe.

Cronin has called on his back-four to stay focused against the League 1 side.

He said: "We're playing against a better quality of players. I hope I'm not called into action too much. Everyone has got to be on form otherwise it could be a tough afternoon.

"Everyone has to be on their game, especially the back four and myself. If we don't do our jobs properly I'm sure we'll get found out."

The 23-year-old is confident Ebbsfleet can progress into the second round and added: "No one is expecting to go up there and win 5-0 but we're capable of beating them and confident we can win. A bit of luck does come into it and we haven't been lucky in our last five league games.

"We know how to go about things from the FA Trophy run last season which ended with the good experience of winning the final at Wembley. All the boys are excited about the game. The pressure is off us a bit. They are the league side and the pressure is on them. It is going to be a massive day for everyone."
