Crofts rescues point for Gills

EQUALISER: Andrew Crofts
EQUALISER: Andrew Crofts

Gillingham 1 Bournemouth 1

MIDFIELDER Andrew Crofts celebrated his 100th appearance for Gillingham with a dramatic equaliser at Priestfield on Saturday.

It looked like Bournemouth were going to record their first away win of the season until Crofts got on the end of Michael Flynn's stoppage time corner to head past Neil Moss.

Moss had previously looked unbeatable as he denied Matt Jarvis twice and substitute Danny Spiller with brilliant saves as the Gills threw everything at their opponents after the break.

Duncan Jupp had also earlier hit the crossbar with a 20-yard volley.

Despite the home side's second half dominance, Brett Pitman hit the Gillingham post twice late on before Crofts' equaliser.

Bournemouth had taken the lead seven minutes before half-time when teenager Sam Vokes got the wrong side of Ian Cox and kept his compusre to round Dean Brill and score.

Gillingham Brill, Jupp, Cox, Sancho, Jackman, Bentley, Crofts, Flynn, Jarvis, Ndumbu-Nsungu (Spiller h-t), Mulligan.
Subs not used: Chorley, Johnson, Pouton, Savage.
Attendance: 6,296.
