ANDREW CROFTS saluted management duo Iffy Onuora and Mick Docherty for orchestrating Gillingham’s win over Brighton.

The joint caretaker managers were quick to change things around when Brighton began to dominate on Saturday and Crofts acknowledged the pair’s tactical foresight.

“They made some good decisions,” he said. “We started off with a 3-5-2 formation and they were getting out on the wing too much, we changed it and we started getting into the game more.

“In the second half we made a change and 30 seconds after that we scored so, from them, they were great decisions and I’m over the moon for them. Good decisions and good result.”

Crofts was away on international duty last week with Wales, missing Ronnie Jepson’s exit, but he paid tribute to the man that made him captain.

“I was sad when I found out the news,” said Crofts. “He thought a lot of me and I thought a lot of him as well. He’s a good man and I wish him all the best for the future.

“It’s sad to see him go but the atmosphere is still good, the boys are sticking together and if we keep playing like that we can get some more good results.”
