Andrew Crofts made his debut for Wrexham on Tuesday night after joining the Blue Square Premier side on loan for the remainder of the season.

Crofts played 85 minutes in Wrexham’s 2-1 away defeat at table-topping Burton Albion.

Gills manager Mark Stimson, who had no place in his team for the former captain, wished the midfielder all the best on his departure.

“He needs to play football and he isn’t going to get the football he wants here,” said Stimson.

“Andrew Crofts should go into the Conference and if he plays to his ability he should absolutely rip it to pieces but it’s a hard league and it’s not as easy as some people think.

“I hope that Andrew does go and rip it to pieces and gets that deal wherever he wants it in the summer because he’s a good kid who I just think has taken bad advice.”
