Andrew Crofts was restricted to the bench on his recall to the Wales squad for Wednesday night’s friendly with Poland.

The former Gills captain was back in John Toshack’s Wales squad, following a string of outings with Peterborough during a loan spell, but he failed to get onto the pitch during the match in Portugal.

Wales lost the game 1-0, in front of a crowd of just 487, when Poland’s Roger Guerreiro netted with ten minutes left.

Crofts is Gillingham’s most capped player with 12 appearances for Wales.

The midfielder is expected to hold talks with Gills manager Mark Stimson about his future when he returns to training.
