Cricket club awarded grant to upgrade facilities

A Kent cricket club has been handed a windfall of £25,021 by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Orpington Cricket Club received the money as part of the government’s £9.4million community development programme with the ECB have passing some of that money on to enable clubs to upgrade their facilities.

Orpington chairman Geoff Atkinson said: “We are delighted to be awarded this grant as it has enabled us to undertake much-needed remedial work on the square.

“Good pitches are also necessary in maintaining high standards in the playing of the game at senior as well as junior level.”

The club also plan to put the money towards a new motorised roller.
