Gillingham bounced back in style from the disappointment of Tuesday's home draw with Stockport to register a fifth away win of the season on Saturday at Highfield Road.
Iffy Onuora paved the way for victory with a spectacular 35 yard strike that beat Sweden international No1 goalkeeper Marcus Hedman.
The team were forced to defend in depth for long periods before Marlon King made it 2-0 in the 77th minute with his 14th goal of the season.
Gillingham had to weather a late Coventry storm when substitute Jay Bothroyd pulled back a goal in the 86th minute.
But was too little, too late.
