Coupland steps up to manager

PETER Coupland is the new manager of Chatham Town. Following the resignation of Steve Hearn last week, the club believe Coupland’s promotion from assistant to manager is exactly what the team needs in their bid to stay in the Dr Martens, Eastern Division.

Chats vice-chairman Barry Adams said: “Peter's experience as assistant manager and his knowledge of the club is more of a benefit to the club’s expectations than to seek a successor elsewhere. We wish him every success.”

Coupland said: “I'm delighted although it’s obviously a challenge. I want plenty of hard work and discipline from my players but I’m really looking forward to it now.”
