Coach challenges Mos to raise their game

Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish has challenged his players to up their work-rate and improve their attitude, despite the club losing only two of their first 11 games this season.

Parrish was unhappy with Sunday’s performance against Haringey in the ENIHL Cup, which saw Invicta coast into the first intermission 4-1 ahead, before narrowly winning the tie 5-3.

"We’ve got the talent and the fitness," explained Parrish. "However, our work-rate and our attitude is a problem. A few guys are trying to do too much and aren’t doing their jobs properly.

"The one positive from the Haringey game was that we got a win. I’ve come away very unhappy with the performance though, as after the first period we relaxed too much, took stupid penalties and we could have ended up losing.

"Things have got to change. Guys have got to start looking at themselves and start getting their game heads on. If they don’t, I won’t hesitate to make changes."

The players have a perfect opportunity to show the coach they mean business when Chelmsford travel to the Ice Bowl on Sunday for the first clash between the sides in the ENIHL Cup.

The Essex side are undefeated in ENIHL South 2 this season, but despite their lower league status, Parrish is not taking the Chieftains lightly.

"They are a good outfit with a lot of good players," said Parrish. "Jaroslav Pavlus (18 points in 5 games) and Danny Hammond (14 points in five games) are a dangerous combination and I have a lot of respect for their coach Dean Birrell.

"This is a massive game for us. We’ve got to start clicking as a group. When we do click we are going to be a big threat to anybody. But we need it to happen sooner rather than later."

Grant Baxter is the only expected absentee from Sunday’s line-up due to an ongoing shoulder complaint. Elliot Andrews will replace the forward as captain and Glen Jackson is set to return in net.
