ONE of Kent's leading club sides, Bromley CC, will take on the stars of the world game when they host Lashings at Plaistow Lane on Wednesday, Augsut 9.

Former West Indies captain Ritchie Richardson, Sri Lankans Aravinda de Silva and Russell Arnold, Pakistan’s Rashid Latif and New Zealand’s Chris Cairns are expected be among the big names in the Lashings squad.

Claire Connor, captain of England Ladies’ Ashes winning team, and ex-England players Chris Lewis and Phil DeFreitas are also expected to play. Former Test player Chris Cowdrey is doing the commentary.

Victory would be a real scalp for Bromley, who are top of the Kent Cricket League Premier Division 1st XI and in the quarter-finals of the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy and the last four in the National Cockspur Cup.

Chairman Richard Lane said: "It should be a fantastic day and it’s a great chance to see these stars of cricket.

"It’s been a fantastic season so far and if we can get a result against Lashings then that would give everyone a boost."

The club, sponsored by the Bromley Extra, will start the day with a Kwik Cricket event, for the Tamasha Cup, involving 36 youngsters at 1pm. The feature match is scheduled for 2.30pm. Entrance is free.
