Chats' rebuilding continues apace

CHATHAM FC's squad building is continuing at pace as the club prepares for the new season.

Centre half Martin Driscoll has been snapped up from Erith and Beldevere and Kevin Spriggs has been brought in from Dartford to strengthen the midfield.

Player of the Year Steve Best has re-signed with the club along with Dan Lombardo and Ryan Robinson, while Glenn Crook and Garry Tilley are still in talks over new contacts.

Gavin Hopper, last season's reserve goalkeeper, has been pencilled in for the first team and the club are also looking to add a new striker to the squad - with former Woking player Peter Bourne a possible candidate after recovering from an ankle injury.

Chatham’s series of pre-season friendlies continues at Maidstone Road against Lordswood on Tuesday. They are also scheduled to play Berkhamstead Town on July 26, Eton Manor on August 2, Gravesend on August 5 and Dulwich Hamlet on August 6.

The club will begin their Dr Martens League campaign with a trip to Histon on Saturday, August 9.
