TWO charities are set for a cash windfall after former Kent captain David Fulton declared a £105,000 profit from his 2006 benefit campaign.

In what transpired to be his 15th and final season with the club before retirement, 35-old-year Fulton elected to donate half of his benefit income to the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust and the Ridge View School in Tonbridge.

Since losing his brother-in-law, the former Kent and Warwickshire spin bowler, Richard Davis, to a brain tumour in 2003, Fulton has worked to raise cash for the Trust and they will benefit to the tune of £40,000.

Ridge View, a school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties, will also receive a £10,500 donation toward a special project at their centre in Cage Green Road.

Fulton said: "It would have been nice to raise just that little bit more for the charities but I'd like to think that we've at least done some good in this. The fact that these charities are very close to my heart made the year more rewarding.

"But a benefit isn't all about raising money, it's also an opportunity for players to say thank you.

"We're very lucky as Kent players to be so well supported. Our supporters turn up to watch our games in great numbers and those same people turn out to support our benefit events as well."
