KENT return to The Brit Oval for the second time in three weeks on Sunday and in the hope that their injury crisis is almost at an end.

The patched-up side on Championship duty at New Road this week may well be far removed from the one that takes to the field for Spitfires totesport League clash with Surrey.

Captain David Fulton, who missed the Worcestershire game with a bruised hand picked up against Lancashire, hopes to return to lead the side for their sixth start of the campaign.

Ironically it may well be Ed Smith, Kent's locum skipper at New Road, who gives way to Fulton. Mohammad Sami is also hoping for a quicker than expected return after last

Monday's scan on an injured left knee showed little more than slight muscle damage rather than the feared for cartilage trouble.

With Martin Saggers and Geraint Jones absent on Test duty, Spitfires will give another opportunity to understudy keeper Niall O'Brien and rookie Canterbury paceman Simon Cusden, who has impressed in his two appearances to date.
