CHARLTON chief executive Peter Varney has retaliated to Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan’s latest outburst against the club.

In a Sunday newspaper column, Mr Jordan said Charlton’s Valley Express coach service "goes out into Kent to nick Gillingham fans".

Mr Varney retorted: "It really is quite sad that Jordan does not seem capable of writing a newspaper column without making a snide comment about Charlton.

"This latest remark is cheap and misinformed. We have gone to great lengths to stress this is an affordable, safe and convenient method of getting to and from The Valley for people who may not be able to attend matches without it.

"We are not setting out to steal fans from any other clubs."
