GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally is hoping to finalise the club’s relocation plans within a year.

Mr Scally remains keen on moving the Gills to Gravesham and believes London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid will give the club a helping hand.

He said: "Relocation is still a must and these next six to 12 months are going to be important.

"I think we’ve found the sites and we’ve now just got to secure those. I would say three days a week of mine are working on relocation.

"Winning the Olympic bid has been a massive boost because the Government and councils are keen to make sure that the South East is prepared for the Olympics.

"And our friends at Gravesham and Kent County Council, as well as Medway Council, are all keen to exploit those opportunities.

"We need to be sure that we’re part of those plans."
