FORMER policeman Steve Cable of Istead and Ifield Harriers clearly enjoys the Thanet beat as he won his second race this month on the East Kent coast.

Cable followed his victory in the Kent Coastal half marathon with an even more dominant display to claim the Quicksand 15 mile multi-terrain title on Margate beach on Sunday morning.

His winning time of 1 hour 50 minutes 42 seconds was over four minutes faster than runner-up Daniel Green (1.44.57) of Ashford and District could manage in the autumn sunshine.

Frank Flint (M50, 1.45.26) and Chris Caps (1.45.48) of the host club Thanet Road Runners were next home ahead of M40 masters Andy Tucker (1.46.58) of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers and Gary Salmon (1.49.44) of Thanet.

The first lady home was Heather Fitzmaurice (W35, 1.53.30) of Sevenoaks. Sarah Maguire (W35, 1.59.02) of Canterbury Harriers and Lynne Champion (W35, 2.09.34) of Istead and Ifield Harriers completed the all master podium.
