Burnley 1 - Gillingham 0

Glen Little's first goal of the season dashed Gillingham's hopes of making amends for their FA Cup eclipse at Turf Moor two weeks ago.

With Saturday's Nationwide League, Division 1 game heading for a stalemate, the Burnley midfielder broke Gillingham's hearts with the only goal of the game seven minutes from the end.

Neil Wood chipped the ball through and with the Gillingham defence standing ball watching, Little found the net from close range.

Eight minutes earlier, Gillingham substitute Rod Wallace missed a sitter after the home defence had been caught napping by a long, boucing ball.

Gillingham were marginally the better side in the first half before Burnley responded to the backing of their supporters and inflicted a third defeat of the season on the visitors.
